Extended Warranty by Acko

Your Ecozen Smart AC comes with a 5-year extended warranty from Acko General Insurance, included in the price. You do not buy it, activate it or renew it. This page explains in plain language what it covers, what it does not, and what happens when you claim.

Applies to the Ecozen Smart AC (BEE 2026). Earlier model years carry different warranty terms — see Warranty.

How your Sum Insured works

Your Sum Insured is set from the product's MOP at the time of purchase, and it does not drop if the AC is later discounted on any platform. Buy during a sale and your cover is still based on the full value.

From the second year onward, a depreciation percentage applies to what a claim can pay out:

Year of cover Depreciation applied Claim can pay up to
Year 1 None 100% of Sum Insured
Year 2 10% 90% of Sum Insured
Year 3 20% 80% of Sum Insured
Year 4 30% 70% of Sum Insured
Year 5 40% 60% of Sum Insured

If a repair would cost more than 80% of your invoice value, the unit is treated as Beyond Economic Repair. Rather than being repaired, the claim is settled at the depreciated Sum Insured for that year.

The compressor

Your compressor is covered for 5 years under Ecozen's own manufacturer warranty, which runs alongside the Acko plan. If it fails within that period, we replace it.

What is not covered

Every extended warranty has limits. These are ours, stated plainly so there are no surprises at claim time.

How the unit is used

  • Commercial premises. This plan covers residential use. A unit installed in a shop, office, restaurant or other commercial establishment is not covered.
  • Misuse, abuse or negligence, or use contrary to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Unauthorised repairs. Once someone outside the Ecozen or Acko service network opens the unit, cover ends.
  • Removed or altered serial number. We must be able to identify the unit.

Damage from outside the product

  • Theft, loss or accidental damage. This is a breakdown warranty, not accident insurance — only faults inherent to the product are covered.
  • Electrical supply damage — power outages, surges, voltage outside the rated range, overloading or strain. Your unit is rated for 145–290 V; damage from supply outside that band is not covered. A stabiliser is worth considering if your supply is unreliable.
  • Damage in transit or storage, including the cost of moving the unit to or from a repair centre.
  • Corrosion, rust, denting, scratching, blockages or dust.

Maintenance and cosmetics

  • Routine maintenance — cleaning, servicing, lubrication, adjustment, alignment or overhaul.
  • Gas top-up or recharging where there is no underlying technical defect.
  • Normal wear and tear of components not integral to the AC's functioning.
  • Cosmetic and inconsequential issues — noise, vibration, warping, oil seepage and the like, where cooling performance is unaffected.

Parts and accessories not covered

  • Remote control, adapters, chargers and other accessories or consumables
  • Copper piping and plastic piping
  • Drain pipes
  • Power adaptors
  • Electrical fittings

Other limits

  • Repeat failure of the same part within 90 days of a repair is handled as part of the original repair, not a fresh claim.
  • Manufacturer recalls are handled under the recall, not under this plan.
  • Anything already covered by the manufacturer's warranty or another active plan.
  • Only new appliances are eligible. Refurbished or second-hand units are not.
  • If a part becomes obsolete or unavailable, the claim is settled as a total loss rather than repaired.

How to raise a claim

Contact Ecozen support with your invoice and the unit's serial number, and we will register the claim with Acko and arrange the service visit. See Contact.

Keep your original invoice — it establishes your purchase date and Sum Insured, and is required for every claim.

This page is a plain-language summary provided for convenience. The Acko General Insurance policy document and its terms and conditions govern in all cases, and the list of exclusions may be updated from time to time by the manufacturer or the insurance partner. Where this summary and the policy document differ, the policy document applies. For the manufacturer warranty that runs alongside this plan, see Warranty.
